We run two hour photography sessions based on a photography theme/technique/style and they take place in various locations across the region.

New to photography? We also run a popular 3 hour Beginners Guide to Photography Class once a month.

And once in a while we will run special niche 3 hour classes, for example, Astrophotography - so do subscribe to our newsletter to know when the next on is!

Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to keen amateurs. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

Join the Sacramento Photography Facebook Group here to share your photos after the session.

Abstract Photography - K Street Mall, Sacramento, CA - 9 am - 2 Hours
This session will focus on using an Urban Setting to create abstract images.

• What is abstract photography? •
Abstract photography is about breaking the rules and allowing us see things in a way that we wouldn’t normally see. It’s unique and it’s surprising! Abstract photos can be created both in-camera and through post-production, but today we’re going to be looking at our in-camera techniques.

We will be looking for reflections, the contrast of light and shadows and other details which will fit our abstract theme. A great session to play with your camera and accessories!

Rocks & Water Landscape Meetup - Dave Moore Trail Coloma, CA - 9 am - 2 hours
Capturing landscapes is one of the most accessible types of photography because almost any scene you shoot can be a landscape.

No photographer can walk past a breathtaking vista without taking a shot, and it’s a great way to practise techniques without fast moving or difficult to find subjects.

In this session we will be photographing the South Fork of the American River and 150 year old rock formations.

Laurie and the group were very welcoming on my first event with them! Laurie was there to answer any questions if we had them, but we were more than able to independently wander and find the shots that we liked.

Finally something clicked with me and I understood. This was my 4th “beginning camera” class through different organizations and Laurie Gallant had a way of explaining so it made sense to me. She made sure everyone had opportunities to ask questions and to comment. I really enjoyed the class and look forward to more from her.
